Gregory Blackstock

The Incomplete Historical World, Parts I, II, & III

June 3 - July 10, 2021

Greg Kucera Gallery is pleased to announce its sixth solo exhibition of work by Seattle artist Gregory Blackstock. The exhibition features the presentation, for the first time, of all three suites of prints in which we have curated a selection reflecting the range of his oeuvre thus far. Images taken from his taxonomies of the natural world (birds, animals, insects, plants, “weathers”) are seen in context with his encyclopedic view of the manmade world (clothing, cars, buildings, tools) to create the macrocosm which is Blackstock’s world.

Each print is signed by the artist and based on a unique original drawing.

Suite I - 20 prints in editions of 20. All prints are 24 inches tall. Images include Tropical Fruit, Art Supplies, Piranhas, Birdwing Butterflies, Carrots, Lilies, Shoes, “Super-Red-Hot” Peppers, Cockroaches, and Crows.

Suite II - 18 prints in editions of 15. All prints are 30 inches tall. Images include Artichokes, Barracudas, Big Cats, Parrots, German Shepherd Police Dogs, Leghorn Roosters, Noisemakers, Saws, and Scorpions.

Suite III of 4 prints in editions of 10. All prints are 36 inches tall. Images include Harmful To Man Plants, Ravens, and Troublemaker Moths.
