Greg Kucera Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of prints by New York artist Anders Bergstrom.
Bergstrom’s prints are painstaking simulations of the common brown paper bag. Each jagged edge, creased fold, and greasy stain is an homage to this everyday object that we usually take for granted. Though the work may appear at first to be readymade, closer inspection reveals the printmaking techniques used to recreate each detail.
“My work is influenced by my studies in both Sociology and Fine Art; often reflecting on everyday discarded or abandoned objects. Street detritus, beer cans, stacks of newspapers, paper bags are subjects worthy of serious investigation. I like to explore the ordinary, searching for something new to be discovered.”
