Anders Bergstrom

Thick Thin Thinner

February 6 - March 28, 2020

Opening reception: Thursday, February 6, 6-8
Artist talk: Saturday, February 8 at noon

Greg Kucera Gallery is pleased to announce its second solo exhibition of prints by New York artist Anders Bergstrom.

With this exhibition, Bergstrom continues his exploration of the common brown paper bag. Each jagged edge, creased fold, and greasy stain is an homage to this everyday object that we usually take for granted. But there is now a more playful, less reality-based result, allowing the final work to be more colorful, painterly, and thought-provoking.

In 2019 the artist began working with a combination of viscosity monotype and soft ground etching. For the artist this new process of viscosity printing was both challenging and inspiring, setting in motion a productive moment in his practice. The process offers a freedom to be spontaneous, and the resulting series of prints and objects breaks new ground for Bergstrom’s work.
