Numbers hover over the basket mimicking the video game logic of Nintendo’s Mario Party, where points accumulate through competition. Beneath the playful imagery is a more sobering message: existing is expensive and the cost of living continues to rise. The work acknowledges the ongoing financial pressures of daily survival and our inescapable participation in the global marketplace. Basic necessities feel increasingly out of reach. Here White creates a narrative that captures the weight of that struggle, and the absurdity of having to fight for what should be fundamental.
