The artist wrote accompanying mythology for each Stupad sculpture:
“The Flux Balancer Stupad has three interconnected chambers, one for each type of affect: happiness, sadness, and stress. Each chamber is meant to be filled with tears prompted by these emotions, then sealed. When tilted, the liquids shift but remain separated until the owner starts shaking the Stupad vigorously. When the tears mix, the practitioner’s heart rate surges. It goes on like a trapped little bird, fluttering, fretting. Then suddenly, peace fills the body, as if all concerns are suddenly neutralized like the wind that stops at sunset. Practitioners may also slowly and rhythmically rock the Stupad back and forth until the liquid forms ripples but does not spill. Settling it down to rest, the ripples continue. This exercise is both meditation and metaphor: balance is never permanent, but always possible. By embodying flux, the Flux Balancer Stupad teaches how to build resilience through restraint and serenity.” —Timea Tihanyi
