Timea Tihanyi wrote accompanying mythology for each Stupad sculpture:
“The Companion’s Pulse Stupads come in pairs. When two people hold their Stupads at the same time, each object would synchronize to other person’s heartbeat, no matter the geographical distance between them. When one of the pair gets lost, the remaining Stupad becomes unsettled. It keeps shifting to find its match randomly; one never knows whose pulse they might feel. Emigrants, exiles, broken families, and distant lovers carry them in hopes of finding the matching pair. Companion’s Pulse Stupads are cherished. They are a signal and a proof that somewhere, someone is also holding on. There have been a few claims, where people suddenly and unexpectedly felt the pulse of a stranger, only to meet them later and to form a lasting bond with. These Stupads remind us that distance and time are relative and can be overcome with love.” —Timea Tihanyi
