$2,950. framed
A large-scale still life of a stunning glass period vase containing a single Calla lily.
The velvety background is a striking backdrop to the luminous tones and reflections of the vase.
The table cloth, strewn with flowers and other items, calls to mind a turn-of-the-century oil painting.

Messrs. (David) McDermott & (Peter) McGough are a pair of artists who, like Dugdale, favor the 19th century. Living in New York and Dublin, they attempt to divorce themselves from this century through their dress, mode of travel, furnishings and manners. As dandies, they have created an elegant and engaging style of life and art, merging the two almost seamlessly. The articles featured in the Sentimental Education suite of prints are all personal clothing and furnishing items illustrating the completeness of their vision. Printed as photogravures, an antique process for image reproduction, these works celebrate the past with wit and panache.
